If you think up an idea for a site, and the domain name is avaalible, register the domain! $10 is a small investment. After doing research, if you decide not to develop the idea, let the registration lapse. Also, become a domain name reseller, you can save a few bucks, plus make it easier for you to help your family and friends when they ask you about web stuff. I'm a reseller for Dotster, and have had no major problems, and actually have made a little bit of cash through selling domains.
