I'm amazed at how crdeible they are in the eyes of consumers. (Actually I'm seldom amazed by consumers, in America.) As a Web developer and marketing person myself, I know buyer reviews are the Holy Grail of Web 2.0 e-commerce. But consider the proximity: I just bought something, so I'm skewed to like it, especially at or near the time of purchase I may even be motivated to promote that others buy what I did in order to reinforce my buying genius. So I kinda wish Feedback wasn't trumping good old PC Magazine, et al, reviews. Scratch that. I just remembered that Motor Trend named the Chevy Malibu Car of the Year, twice. Maybe the only judgment to trust is our own.
