Set the prices in the midlde. This way authors and publishers and agents can still make money, and no one's getting ripped off. .99 is just too damn cheap for new releases. Back lists, fine. But new releases are only diminishing themselves. A few established, highly competitive authors are out there trying to pull this off right now with new releases they've self-published, and they are not only lowering the bar for other authors, but also shooting themselves in the foot.
