Most shops in the area close quite early, so if you're coming home after 6 or 7 there aren't many options. A bagel place would be great, but the space is very small and bakeries take up a good amount of room. Maybe a sandwich shop that also has a few groceries, kind of deli style with a cooler full or salads and sides. I think a simple sandwich shop that uses high quality ingredients to make simple and filling meals would be best, perhaps serving good drip coffee as well.
