Funny things hapepn in marriages. Sometimes they end in divorce. If you own your own policy and name your hubby as beneficiary and your hubby does the same. You have 2 kids. Then you get divorced and it is a bitter divorce (See recent question by Ted M). What if he decides to stop paying the insurance premiums to be bitter or spiteful towards you?Wouldn't you feel more comfortable if YOU owned the policy on him. That way YOU decide what hapepns to the insurance. Even if the divorce court requires him to buy insurance, there are many ex-spouses who do not keep up their requirements.Go talk to an agent and a financial planner.

The only concern the incnrause carrier would have is who's going to pay the premium , who going to be the rated driver and where the vehicle will be lodged. If an accident happens, if both of you are still on the policy both are still insured. When the settlement is situated, the one turning over the car needs to contact the incnrause carrier and remove their name from the policy. As for the vehicle, if it's in both names and still financed..both are responsible for the payment until the contract is paid off or re-financed.
