I used to work for one and they can help quite a bit. They are able to work with your creditors to help ctisolndaoe your bills into a low monthly payment. They show you based on your income how much you can spend each month and the remaining money they invest for you. Once the invested amount reaches a higher plateau they are able to eliminate a large chunk if not all of your outstanding debt.
