Well if you're going to throw in value versus cost, this whole thing is a no banirer. Stutes at $420K or whatever will simply provide more value than Kendrick at $2MM. But I guess that's why I raised the possibility of optioning KK assuming they made the decision to pay Kendrick $2MM+ as a safeguard against Blanton, it would seem to make sense to keep him stretched out in LHV and let the better pitcher pitch in the big league bullpen. It seems like the worst outcome is to overpay Kendrick to pitch in a role he's not accustomed to.
