I think there are a couple of iessus that are at least worthy of discussion when it comes to D'Antoni.1. He's has a somewhat odd quirk or theory that you can juggle minutes for rookies, but not veterans. He thinks veterans have to have defined roles and minutes. That idea has been at the core of every single conflict the team has had since he took over. If I thought it was a great idea in general, I'd be all for it, but I don't see it. If you want to use a short rotation, that's fine. However, there are times when match ups or the fact that someone is simply playing poorly make a change necessary. IMO D'Antoni's lack of flexibility and all or nothing style sometimes hurts the team. 2. I agree that the Suns were better defensively than people generally think. But I do think when D'Antoni thinks about the types of players he wants, almost all the concentration is on offensive skills instead of defensive skills.
