The world has been at much more extreme temperatures than it is now or will be in the near future. You've likely gotten your information about the "end of humanity" due to global warming from those documentaries on television. I've watched those documentaries as well, and every last one of them has come right out and said they were explaining the "worst case scenario".Fact: Nobody really knows what effect global warming will have on humanity.Fact: Carbon emissions were much much much higher than they are now during one of the Earth's most fertile time periods, the jurassic era, where it support the most amount of diverse life.Fact: Global warming is happening but we don't know what causes it. There is a consensus among many scientists that it is happening but that "consensus" grows dramatically smaller when talking about whether or not it is man made.Fact: Carbon is a WEAK greenhouse gas. There are much stronger greenhouse gases so what is the point of spending trillions of dollars on carbon reduction when that is likely not the most concerning element in play here? So we reduce carbon emissions and nothing happens because it's methane or nitrous oxide. Real bright.Fact: The problem with these bills isn't just about the monetary cost. It's about the cost to freedom. You are essentially telling people that you would rather sell your freedom AND the freedom of everyone else for a band aid fix. Essentially just so that you can calm your fears and feel more in control. Too bad for you who obviously takes freedom so for granted that you can't fathom what it would be like to lose it.Fact: Even if every human on the planet ceased to produce any carbon emissions (essentially suddenly ceased to exist) the planet would still warm. It is going to happen, we can not stop it and we MAY not have caused it in the first place. We live on a dynamic, evolving, changing, living planet. We can not stop nature. We've tried for thousands of years and we fail every time. Put your energy into finding a way to adapt to a new normal or perish off.Fact: It was the "backwards" conservatives who were living "green" well before it became a mainstream leftist idealogy. It was the "backward" conservatives who were self sufficient (essential for a green lifestyle), it was them that reused and saved and lived simply as part of their lifestyle. All of this while liberals and Dems and moderates went on consumerist buying binges, moved to large cities, pumped money into their fancy shoes and their fancy clothes and their brand new technology. So who the HELL are you to come on here and act like this is a novel liberal idea that the conservatives are against? You people are nothing more than parasites who have latched onto the idealogy, you didn't create it, conservatives did. You don't own. So don't sit there on your high horse and try to "educate" conservatives on a lifestyle that they've held onto for hundreds of years. Pompous @ss.
