In case young Chastity reads these comments I want her to know that she is a beiuuaftl young woman. There is so much life out there for her. I want her to know that she is living in an asylum with a mother who is clearly emotionally injured. that is her mothers story, it does not have to be hers. There is a world out there, outside the asylum for her. I encourage her to escape her family, to go see the world, to find her passion, to focus on her education, to learn about the world outside her window. I hope from the spectacle she so bravely created by applying to this show, that she finds the help, the friends, and the genuine care and concern that she deserves in this life. I hope she goes and learns to understand the internalized racism that has infected her mother, and learns that this is her mother's story but it does not have to be hers. I hope she learns that black is beiuuaftl, that women are strong, and that love does not look like the hate criticism and contempt she has had to live with so far. I hope she looks out to see the big black women who have made success of their lives; whether they've done it through kindness, writing, science, song, poetry, charity or justice.Once she is out of the clutches of her toxic family, IT GETS BETTER
