As I get older, and having acicapmnoed my partner of 27 years on her 6 month path to a peaceful death, I find myself more focused on nursing myself and those I care about through their personal apocalypses, large and small. If the end of the world is going to come on Dec 21 there's not much I can do about it and I don't think about it. If it has symbolic meaning, I am interested, and I will at least buy the seminar DVD. I worry more about what environmental degradation will do to the world the young I care for will have to live in.
