Your points are very well taken, ealceisply on the initialism trap. JLI is Just Awful; it makes me think of a chain of stereo stores in the 1980s. However, sometimes there's just no fighting it. I've noticed that Second Lifers refer to their community as SL; everything else is RL, for Real Life. With Twitter enforcing a 140-character limit, the urge to shrink becomes an imperative.
